Biblioburro Comes to Orchard Gardens!

During June ALL of the 1st grade students at Orchard Gardens received a copy of Biblioburro by Monica Brown. This is a true story of Luis Soriano and his work to bring books to children in the rural areas of Columbia. Special guest visitor Karen Gallagher from the Dudley Branch BPL read us the book and then we watched a short video about the real Luis Soriano!

The books were provided by Mayor Walsh and the Boston Public Library as part of the White House Initiative known as ConnectED. In addition to the books, every 1st grader (and at OG nearly 98% of our student body) have active BPL cards. (If your child has lost their card, Ms. M is happy to make them a new card in the fall - but don't wait - go to your branch with another form of ID and get your summer reading on!
