Biblioburro Comes to Orchard Gardens!

During June ALL of the 1st grade students at Orchard Gardens received a copy of Biblioburro by Monica Brown. This is a true story of Luis Soriano and his work to bring books to children in the rural areas of Columbia. Special guest visitor Karen Gallagher from the Dudley Branch BPL read us the book and then we watched a short video about the real Luis Soriano!

The books were provided by Mayor Walsh and the Boston Public Library as part of the White House Initiative known as ConnectEd that is no longer a program. In addition to the books, every 1st grader (and at OG nearly 98% of our student body as of 2017 when I retired) had active BPL cards. (If your child had lost their card, Ms. M was happy to make them a new card. If you school doesn't have a library, go to your local library and get reading!
